4 Tips for Pigmentation

We all want to have the flawless skin of a radiant Greek goddess, but sometimes life can get in the way and ruin our plans. 

There are a million and one causes of skin pigmentation: from prolonged exposure to the sun, pregnancy, hormones and even hereditary factors. As a result, you may not be able to avoid getting those uneven patches on your skin. 

But don’t despair; your Greek goddess skin is still attainable. These tips and hints will help you prevent and treat pigmentation: 

1. Always use sunblock 
Regular use of sunblock is your biggest weapon against pigmentation. We all know how harmful UV rays are, and being exposed to them for long periods of time can lead to pigmentation.
It is recommended that you use a sunblock of SPF 30 or higher on your face. If you are a nature-lover and are constantly outdoors, it is recommended you apply sunblock every 3 – 4 hours. 

2. Take care of your skin 
Having a regular skin care routine can be instrumental in treating and preventing pigmentation, particularly the most common kind: hyper-pigmentation. 
Taking care of your skin also includes ditching some of those bad habits. Popping  pimples, scratching and picking at your skin is a big no-no, especially if you already have skin pigmentation issues. If you feel the need to scratch, moisturise instead. 

3. Use the right products

4. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate 
Exfoliation has numerous benefits for your complexion. Exfoliation rids the surface of the skin of skin cells containing pigment so helps with skin cell turnover. Be careful not to over exfoliate, using an exfoliating wash 1-2 times a week is enough for most people.
